Curiosity has struck me… My son’s Cub Scout den is meeting at our house tonight to interview my cousin who is a police detective, firefighter and EMT. I wonder if they (8 year-old boys) will be surprised when they see she is a woman. When I was a kid, this might have surprised my classmates. I tend to think that tonight (in 2016), the boys will remain unfazed.
Incidentally, my cousin who is meeting with the kids tonight is my absolute hero. She epitomizes the word integrity, and she is about the funniest person I know. She serves well and lives well, and I’ve looked up to her for years.
I’m so glad these boys will get to meet her tonight.
